Ash is a queer multi-disciplinary artist, jokester, and bleeding heart based in Brooklyn. They are inspired by the wonders of the Natural World, the absurdities of urban reality, and driven by their inner-interconnected Spiritual body.

Currently, their art making practice takes form as a meditative stream of consciousness juxtaposed with a calculated intentionality in the distribution of color, texture, and line. Ash spontaneously creates playfully vibrant, intricate compositions that take your eye on an imaginative journey by building up layers of any combination of watercolor and acrylic paints, markers, pens, and oil pastels.

One of Ash's favorite aspects of their creative process is "identifying" forms and images within their finished work
they weren't aware were taking shape while in progress. As
well,
naming the pieces has recently become the "final touch"
of each piece, tapping into what they see in the work, and a
possible suggestion for how they wish to inspire you while
viewing the works. Often expressing a tongue-in-cheek sense
of levity or a commentary on deeper more somber themes.

But why so small!? It's true, the body of work represented here
is quite small-scale. Historically, Ash worked much larger, which complemented her aesthetic handsomely. However, over the years of traveling, observing, and finding a much deeper connection to the Earth and to their body through food and farming, conservation
and waste reduction have been a large consideration in her current lifestyle. "Big art has no where to go.".. "Sure, it's eye-catching, but who is storing it?".. "And then what?" Along with living semi-nomadically for years and in moving to NYC where space is at a premium anyway, Ash began working small, out of intention of having a smaller footprint, as well as for the convenience and
ease of which to produce and house works. She does wish one
day to expand back into a larger studio space, but with much
more awareness and care for the functionality of that work.

Ash has a rich history of soul-searching, regarding themselves
as a "life-long learner and explorer." After graduating with a
design degree, she followed a greater calling to explore more
of the world through other trades including teaching and farming. Struggling with mental wellness since their teenage years, a tumultuous
history of substance abuse as well as always feeling
like an outsider have all led Ash to finding solace in their art practice. Along with finding yoga and various mentors and
guides over the years, Ash is more grounded and balanced
than ever before, becoming more enthusiastic about sharing
their work with the world.
